Varanasi in less than a week?

Hey! Here's my interesting situation. I went to India a few years ago and visited Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Jodhpur. Now I'm married and am taking my wife and her little brother (16) to India for their first visit. We're landing in Delhi and they want to see the Taj Mahal, so that's already a repeat of 2 cities. I'd like to see something new, such as Varanasi but our original plan was to stay in India just 5 days. (He has a tight school schedule.) I was thinking we could change it to one week and maybe be able to see Varanasi as our third and final city? I don't know how long it takes to get around. Is it feasible? Would one extra day make or break the schedule? I also don't know if a train or a car would be faster for getting there. What do you guys think? Thanks!
