| I will be making my first trip to India. I will be going from Dec. 27, 2008 until Jan. 15, 2009 by myself. Any tips for a female traveling alone? Do most people speak English? I would like input on my itinerary. Is it too much? Should I alter length of times in certain places? I would also like tips on traveling between each city. Train names and numbers would be very helpful. Also, as far as packing, how cold might it get? Below 60F? For food, hotels, etc., I am figuring about $50 day (except for the flights). Does that seem reasonable with budget accommodations? My basic plan: Day 1 - fly in to Delhi Day 2, 3 - check out Delhi and acclimate Day 4 - take a train to Jaipur Day 5, 6 - explore Jaipur Day 7 - Train to Agra and visit Taj Mahal for sunset (is that possible?) Day 8 - Train to Varanasi Day 9, 10, 11, 12 - explore Varanasi Day 13 - fly to Kochi (I do realize I will have about an 8 hour layover in Bengalore but it seems more sane than a train. Suggestions?) Day 14, 15, 16, 17 - Explore Kochi (and surrounding areas) Day 18 - fly to Mumbai Day 19 - fly back to USA from Mumbai Any suggestions or advice will be gladly welcomed. I have researched Lonely Planet but you all seem very knowledgeable. Thanks in advance. Affordable with Great Features - China Mobiles & Gadgets- Buy Here.
