Need Urgent Info: Planning Honeymoon in Manali around mid Nov '08

Hi All,

I am Amit and working with Hewitt Associates, Noida.
I am planning to visit Manali for Honeymoon around 12th-15th of Nov. I have searched Internet and found various options. But the problem is now I am confused:confused: to choose the best option. Then I looked into this site and various forums and decided to take some inputs from your previous experiences. Hope, Someone may help...
The options that I looked into :-

HPTDC : -
1) They are providing a honeymoon Package for 3/4 days for "Hotel Kanzum" at about Rs 5,000 - Rs 5,500 if I choose to move on/after 15 Nov.
2) The Hidmba Cottages: They are charging Rs 2000 per night irrespective of when I go In Nov.

Travel Agents(Private):-

They are giving packages in a range of Rs 12,000 - Rs 20,000 depending on the Hotel/Resort and the room type.
1) Solang Valley resort.
2) Holiday Inn.
3) Apple Country Resort.
4) Manali Resorts.
5) Manali Inn.
6) Honeymoon Inn.

Now the Issues in deciding:-
1) Whether to opt for Hotel/Resort or Cottage?
2) I am not sure whether the Govt. Hotels or Cottages will have good facilities or not... (They are costing me a less, and thats attracting me, but I don't want to compromise much on facilities)?
3) Solang Valley resort is 10kms ahead of Manali. So, will it be better to stay there?
4)I also wish to visit Manikarn. So, also keeping this in mind what would be the ideal place to stay?
5) I have heard that Rohtang gets closed in Nov. Is there any way to trespass to Rohtang by the help of locals? If Yes, Is it safe to go?

These are a lot of questions bombing inside my little head.. I request you all to guide and share your experiences..

My Budget : - Rs15,000 - 25,000 Including all expenses (Traveling, lodging, food)

I will be traveling by Volvo from Delhi. So which Volvo service will be best. Also, I need to go to Phatankot on the way return. So, How much time will that journey take and what will be the mode of transport from Manali to Phatankot.
