Road trip from Manali to Leh to Kashmir

Back to the forum after a short vaccation

I am planning a Road trip possibly using Maruthi Gypsy or such vehicle.

The group size would be aroun 5-6 persons

And we plan to hire a vehicle and use the following route

1) Jammu Tawi - Srinagar- Kargil- Leh- Manali-Delhi

or

2)Delhi-Manali-Leh-Kargil-Srinagar-Jammu Tawi

Ideally we have just one week in hand right from the day we land at Jammu or Delhi

We even plan to spend couple of nights camping if possible and climb Stok Kangri (if possible) or induglge in rating for a day.

But we have to be back in Delhi or Jammu to catch the return train ( We are normal Indians ;) so dont have too much to spend but would like to enjoy as much as possible in a tight budget)


Now as Phase 1 need guidance on these

1) where can I book a good & reliable vehicle?
2) What type of vehicles can I get for booking?
3) Under what terms can I get the vehicle ? ( how will the driver bata, driver food and similar/those things be decided)
5) What route is the best ?
6) Where all can I visit ?
7) How much time will it take?
8) Any issues or any possible problem that you can advise me about?
9) The overall cost factor ( possibly divided into things like Petrol, Food, entry fees , accommodation etc )
10) Any additional expense that can befaced
11) What about accomodation enroute
12) Possible itenary welcome


And quite possible a brief synopsis of your trip and anything that you think might help me with my planning would be a great help.
