| Luxury hotels: Life in the fast lane In the evolution of the luxury hotel, a mantra for success is not so much survival of the fittest as survival of the fattest. Whereas most luxury hotels are happy to offer excellent service, award-winning cuisine, drop-dead gorgeous suites and views over private white-sand beaches, a distinct clutch of properties feel this is nowhere near enough, and step everything up several gears.
